Brown Brothers Tarrango

£7.19

An unusual grape variety, Tarrango is a light red wine which should be served slightly chilled. It has aromas of juicy, ripe strawberries and a hint of cherry and spice. The wine has not been aged in oak and as such delivers refreshing cherry, raspberry driven fruit on the palate. Its fruity, refreshing style is a perfect accompaniment to spicy or barbecued food. It should be enjoyed with two years of vintage while its is young and fresh. The red Tarango grape is unique to Australia, developed there as a table grape by the Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation.

The family company of Brown Brothers are probably alone in making a varietal wine out of Tarango. Tarrango vines are capable of producing bumper crops, but Brown Brothers keep the yields low so as to get richer flavours. 15% of this wine is fermented by the carbonic maceration method, whole grapes going into the tank, to maximise aromas."
